Hi, you've reached Kennedy's voicemail. Sorry, I'm probably knee deep in paint right now. Leave a message or text me!

Hello, all. I'm really sad to say that I'll be dropping Kennedy from my deck of characters. She'll remain in town as an NPC, mostly because I want Keke's to continue to be an establishment that can be used to anyone's heart's content and because I want the characters she's closest to to not be affected by say, her sudden departure from town or something (plus I really couldn't think of a reason why she'd move away). She's still around and she's still up to Kennedy things, she just won't be played. You're welcome to reference her in any way you want.

I'm really sorry to drop her, because I love her, but I just don't know what to do with her. I've been trying to figure her out since I first created her and I thought I had her, but SHE'S TOO MUCH FOR ME ;3; jk jk she's a joy to play.

Anyway, I'll put up a last post in the next week (the day will depend on how crazy work is). The post won't be a goodbye for Kennedy, but more of a last chance for me playing her with your lovely characters. After that, she'll be listed as an NPC. MMLFAKJFLKJSAF I'M SO SORRY I feel so bad right now :'( Just remember, my other characters are super up for relationships too (yes, even Michaela). Again, sorry for any inconveniences this does to anyone's character.

She hasn't been seen in three days. Wait, four? No, it's been five days. The last person to see Kennedy was Iris during their girls' night in Kennedy's apartment. Her shop has been closed ever since, and she hasn't been seen outside of her apartment.

It happened the day after Iris left. She thinks? Her vision blurred, heart racing as she felt the overwhelming drowning sensation of a premonition. A storm, vague like trying to remember a distant dream days after it happens. She tried to paint the scene, but couldn't remember details for the life of her and trying to produce what played in her mind onto a canvas frustrated Kennedy to a point where she tossed her brush and paints onto the floor. Even more frustrating than trying to paint the vision was cleaning her own damn mess. She cursed herself for losing her temper so easily and before she could completely wipe up the vibrant red from the wood floors, paint seeping between the cracks, her mind was attacked by an onslaught of visions.

Storms, murder, death, police, water, love, loss, the sounds of a life torn apart.

This continues for days.

It's confusing. Overwhelming. Locations range from seaside to plains to snow covered cities. Every time a vision fades, Kennedy is left weak, but driven to paint. It's a compulsion she can't break away from. She scratches messages and crumbling buildings into a notebook. Her walls are now covered in canvases--some streaks of violent colours everywhere, others with full scenes, dark and haunting. The visions repeat in a cycle and she can't sleep. She's long lost track of time, barely eating and sleeping. When she does sleep, the visions become worse, playing into her imagination and morph into truly horrifying nightmares that wake her up screaming and shivering. They've infected her mind.

She finally passes out from hunger and sleep deprivation at 3pm Saturday afternoon and wakes up at seven Sunday morning. Perched gingerly at the edge of her bed like she's afraid to move or she'll shatter like glass, Kennedy takes several deep calming breaths and waits for the next wave of visions to strike. After thirty minutes of freedom, she ventures to get out of bed. This leads to washing her face, changing clothes, brushing her hair, and stepping out of her apartment--all movements that are automatic, her body taking control to care for itself while Kennedy's mind runs a-mile-a-minute, paranoid and anxious.

Next thing she knows, she's in front of Quill. There's a coffee in her hands, though she doesn't remember ordering it. She wipes her cheek and she's surprised to feel tears. When did she start crying? And before she can put the breaks on her emotions, she's sobbing on the sidewalk. A girl sobbing uncontrollably on a sidewalk with her coffee.

Kennedy's laid out several blankets and pillows on the distressed hard-wood floors of her top-floor apartment. It was a long day at work, but thankfully a productive one. Several customers came by to commission her after visiting her booth at the art festival, something she'll call a win. Now that there's a nice open space on the floor free of her canvases, paints, and as clean as it's been since she's moved in, Kennedy pops a big tub of Neopolitan ice cream into the freezer and sets a bottle of wine in a bucket of ice to chill. She picked up everything from the market on the way home.

"I hope Iris doesn't mind eating on the floor..." she worries, but furniture such as a dinning room table really seemed like a waste of money when she needed the space for her art. She shrugs, figuring her new friend will be so excited, she'll love absolutely everything. Laying a box full of jewelry-making supplies on the floor along with their stash of beads from the festival, she pulls out her notebook, quietly working up a quick sketch of the man Owen she met at her booth as she waits for Iris.

Kennedy's only just arrived in Siren Cove. She flew in from Georgia and had to take a taxi the rest of the way to the small town off the coast of Maine. It's beautiful--the weather a bit gloomy but a hell of a lot better than how she had painted it after a premonition. As she stands in the bare living room, she notes to sell that one in the shop, maybe the residents will love it. To her, it makes her nervous. She doesn't want to look at it anymore.

The movers have already left--having barely any furniture to her name and only art supplies, they just had to move some boxes and canvases. The head mover didn't even charge her, something that bothered Kennedy. At first she thought her aunt North had somehow bewitched this man into moving her junk for free, but he just smiled patronizingly at her and said she "looked sad" and that he's "always happy to help a little lady in need." Fuck that guy. She put on her sweetest smile and thanked him for being such a hero, rolling her eyes so hard behind his back, Regina George would be proud.

She sighs as she glances around the room. "Guess I should start unpacking." With a flick of the wrist, she dumps the five boxes out--paints, brushes, notepads, mason jars, everything falling to the distressed hard wood floors and rolling around the room. "Welp, I'm overwhelmed!" It really doesn't take much. The thought of setting up her apartment by herself makes Kennedy anxious and she quickly grabs her purse, a few rolled up paintings, and gets the hell out of dodge. Why worry about it now when I can worry about it later?--an odd adage for a girl who literally saw the future every single day.

Shirking her responsibilities, Kennedy runs down the stairs of the complex and out into the streets. People are out, it's a pretty Saturday, and they all seemed relieved about something. She only half notices a few buildings are falling apart. Must be doing construction work. She tugs a paper out of her back pocket and unfolds it, ignoring a car horn as she blindly enters the street, and heads for her destination--the Boardwalk. Shopping for her apartment was more of an afterthought when it came to her brand new shop. She worked with a realtor over the phone, emailing back and forth, as they found the perfect location for an art shop. Organizing it was too much for her already busy brain, so the realtor set everything up for her, working tirelessly with a man on the outside of town whose expertise was in something art something economics whatever. All she cares about is that her shop is completely set up, organized, the books ready--all she needs to do is hang some work and hope people want to buy some art.

Kennedy finds it. A cute little space on the boardwalk, the door emblazoned with "KeKe's Art-ifacts" and she smiles. This is where she'll spend most of her time, and the front already makes her happy. She appreciates that the realtor has put a little sign on the sidewalk announcing its grand opening and all the services offered. She pulls the key out of her pocket and slowly unlocks the door, peeking inside. "Oh, wow," she whispers before stepping inside, leaving the door propped open behind her. Everything she needs is there, out on display. She frowns when she sees the empty white wall for her paintings.

"Alright then, let's get you situated, shall we?" Kennedy drops the bag off her shoulder and pulls out a roll, carefully rolling it out on a nearby table and hanging the piece with clear clips. She hangs the rest of her paintings--why she's chosen these, she has no idea--and takes a pen from one of the displays, signing the bottom of each piece. She takes a step back to look over the wall.

Hi, here's Kennedy's plotting page. Comment here or message me for any potential plots.

Kennedy has strong premonitions and paints/draws them. If you'd like to use Kennedy's powers for your characters' potential plots, let me know. I think it would be interesting if she had little visions of people in town. Just hit me up and she'll have whatever vision you want her to and draw it out for your character.

Comment here for:

  • Specific plots you'd like to see between your character and Kennedy.
  • If you'd like to commission her (or hit up her mail/voicemail page).
  • What relationship you'd like your character to have with Kennedy (eg. friends, enemies, romantic, colleagues).
  • Generally asking questions about Kenendy that may be relevant to a current/future plot.
Again, she's always available to have a weird vision for you. She'll also show up in town with a few paintings of residents in Siren Cove from previous premonitions, so if you'd specifically like to see a portrait of your character up in her gallery, let me know (I already have a few ready for her appearance in town).

Yay for plotting!

BACKGROUND & HISTORY

Born to a human father and a witch-in-hiding mother created a complicated history for Kennedy. Her mother Noelle, who was mysteriously sick throughout her pregnancy, died just two weeks after giving birth, leaving Kennedy to be raised by her oblivious, angry, and artistic father, Eric. Noelle came from a long-line of witches, unknown to Eric. So when Kennedy turned eight years old and started to see weird things she couldn’t explain, her father thought she had a “gift” for art and a strong imagination. He trained her in every medium he knew, and knowing nothing else, Kennedy began to draw and create art out of what she saw. All of the premonitions she had came true, but were events so disconnected from Kennedy that she never made the connections. It wasn’t until she was a teenager that Kennedy realized there was something more to her drawings and that she didn’t just have a bizarre imagination. Two weeks after painting a scene of her town as it was torn apart by a massive, record-breaking tornado, the exact same storm hit. Scared and angry with herself, Kennedy demanded her father tell her about her mother’s family, but he told her to never contact them. He had no idea what her mother’s family was, but he never liked them and moved himself and Kennedy away from Siren Cove before the dirt ever fell on her mother’s grave. He made sure they moved every couple of years so her family would never find them. Kennedy ran away from home at 16 and travelled to Texas where she reunited with her aunt, her mom’s only surviving relative and practicer of black magic.

North Tyler was an angry, bitter woman who immediately took Kennedy under her wing. She soon learned that her parents had only married because Noelle placed a powerful love spell over a handsome man she met at an art museum, a fact that gave Kennedy chills. They were married just four months after meeting and Noelle was soon pregnant.

Staying with North and going to school until she was 18, Kennedy started to learn a lot about black magic, not that her aunt ever called it that. It was simply “convenient magic”. Her philosophy was that magic was there to be taken advantage of. Those gifted with it deserved to have anything they wanted, even if that meant taking it forcefully or tricking others into handing it over - money, jobs, belongings, lives. Kennedy didn’t believe in the same things her aunt did, but didn’t speak out against it, slightly terrified the woman would kill her off with the blink of an eye. After graduating from high school, Kennedy used the excuse of going off to college to get away from her aunt North. The woman of course used magic to get her niece a scholarship to pay for her entire art degree, which Kennedy still feels guilty for. Now that her art is known around the country, Kennedy regularly donates new pieces to the school’s museum to put on display, just a penny in the pool of money they were tricked out of on her behalf.

Kennedy is now looking for answers. The first of which - what happened to her mother? North had once said in a drunken rant that a curse was placed on Noelle while living in Siren Cove. Aside from her premonitions of a beachy town surrounded by darkness, it’s the only clue she has and Kennedy has decided to set up a home here.

PERSONALITY

Kennedy feels a lot of guilt for her mother’s family and what they’ve done, as well as for her own past premonitions. She also feels guilty for blowing up at her father and hating him for so long when her mother had tricked him into a life he never wanted. In general, she’s a polite, smart young woman who likes to spend most of her time outdoors, drawing or taking pictures to use for pieces later in her studio. Though she’s polite and friendly, it takes a little longer for Kennedy to trust. Her father and aunt weren’t the best reasons to believe in people and that issue lingers with her. She also hates being lied to or tricked in any way. That’s a sure-fire way to get her riled up, which is never a good idea since her magic is uncontrolled and triggered by strong emotions. Conversations with Kennedy may be a bit frustrating for some. She’s easily distracted unless she’s painting. Only then is she 100% focused.

OPINION OF THE RIVALRY

Kennedy has no earthly clue there’s even one going on. When she learns of it, more than likely, she’ll feel torn, knowing she’s a witch herself but detesting the idea of a curse.

LIFESTYLE

Kennedy is an artist. She paints mostly, but also draws in many mediums and creates sculptures. She has set up a small shop at the boardwalk to sell her pieces and also sells them to buyers worldwide. Past pieces are available for purchase as well as commissioned pieces. She’ll make portraits of your pets too!

She’s rented an apartment on the top floor of a complex in town which she has turned into her makeshift art studio.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Witch. Kennedy’s main power revolves around premonitions. She draws what she sees, which can be a literal representation of what’s to come (if it’s a powerful premonition) or an ambiguous picture filled with hints. If the premonition is about someone else, more often than not, the picture will be strange and full of hints. They will have to put the clues together themselves. (Think the “watchers” from Push)

Even though she’s trained for a short time in witchcraft, her premonitions are strong and reliable. Kennedy paid close attention to her aunt’s teaching in curses and other dark magic. She would never purposely perform any of those spells she learned, but by knowing the spells, she can figure out how to untether them or make them less powerful. Kennedy has not learned control of her natural magic, meaning she’ll receive premonitions through physical contact, wanted or not. She’s also been known to exert her uncontrolled magic when she’s highly emotional which mostly takes the form of exploding any light in the room. Destructive magic is all she’s been taught this far in her life, so it’s what her emotions immediately drag out of her.

She has zero knowledge in potions, protection spells, charms, etc, but she is eager to learn anything.

HEADCANONS
  • She probably has a painting of everyone in this place.
  • She loves popsicles. You can totally calm down an over-emotional Kennedy with popsicles of any flavour--but her favourite is cherry.

CURRENT STORYLINES
  • New Beginnings - Kennedy has just moved to Siren Cove. Her shop was set up before she arrived, working through a commercial realtor as she made sure her paintings and other works were transported safely. Her first post will be her first official day stepping into Siren Cove.
CURRENT RELATIONSHIPS
  • Eric Kensington - Kennedy's now estranged father. She hasn't talked to him since she left home at 16.
  • North Tyler - Kennedy's psychotic aunt who loves dark magic almost as much as she loves herself. Kennedy talks to her on the phone about once a month, more out of fear of the woman than anything else.
  • Iris Kouris - Kennedy's new neighbour whom she just met at her shop. She likes the girl, she seems sweet and innocent. Kennedy has promised to check in with her neighbour who is already worrying endlessly about her. She's also made a deal to paint her something special for her apartment.
  • Bach Jones - A weird, infuriating, scruffy man. He practically accused her of stalking the people in her paintings. She doesn't really care if he knows they're painted from premonitions, but he seems like he believes more in coincidences than magic itself. They seem to have some common ground when it comes to shitty parents.

After renting a space on the boardwalk, Kennedy has turned the store into an art gallery/supply store/art studio where she will give lessons in 30 minute increments. The shop is easy to find and is named Keke's Art-ifacts. (Just don't call her KeKe.)
